Origin Media Cookie Policy

Origin Media is a product of CoreOrbit Systems Ltd., based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Origin Media site can be accessed globally. When you request and use an email sign-in link, session cookies keep your verified account session working and protect access to account features. Their duration depends on the session and browser settings.

#Security technologies

Cloudflare may use security cookies or similar browser signals to deliver the site, manage challenges, and help distinguish people from automated traffic. The newsletter form also loads Cloudflare Turnstile. Which technologies appear and how long they last depend on the security feature used.

#Language preference

The site may use a NEXT_LOCALE cookie to remember which language version you selected. Its duration depends on the site's language settings and your browser.

#Theme and notice storage

The site stores your light or dark display preference as om-inverted in your browser's local storage until you change it or clear site storage. When you select “Got it” on the storage notice, the site saves the date and time as om_cookie_notice_acknowledged in local storage. The notice stays dismissed for one year from that acknowledgement, unless you clear site storage sooner. This records that you saw the notice; it is not consent to analytics tracking.

An earlier version of the site may have saved an om_cookie_consent preference. The current site does not read that old preference. It may remain in your browser until you clear site storage.

#Analytics

Origin Media does not currently set optional site analytics cookies or run a site analytics tracker. We will update this policy and provide appropriate controls before adding optional analytics.

#Features that contact other services

Searching the site sends your query to Algolia. The newsletter form loads Cloudflare Turnstile to check for automated requests. When you press Play on an Origin Media video, the YouTube player loads and YouTube may set or read its own cookies. The player is not loaded before that action. Choosing a link to a map, social platform, or another external site takes you to that provider, which controls its own cookies and privacy practices.

#Managing your choice

The storage notice appears when the site has no current saved acknowledgement. It offers a “Got it” button and a link to this Cookie Policy. You can clear Origin Media's site data in your browser to make the notice appear again. You can also block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Clearing site data may sign you out and reset your theme. Blocking necessary storage can prevent sign-in or other features from working.
